Key Requirements
- Continuous lawful residence for the required qualifying period (usually 5 years)
- Pass the Life in the UK Test (unless exempt)

- Not have spent more than 180 days outside the UK in any 12-month period
- Absences must not exceed the permitted threshold for your specific route
Life in the UK Test
Most ILR applicants must pass the Life in the UK Test before applying. The test covers British history, culture, values, and practical knowledge about living in the UK. Our team can advise on preparation resources and exemptions.

- Pass mark is 75% (18 out of 24 questions)
- Must be taken at an approved test centre
