British Citizenship
Achieve the ultimate goal of British citizenship with expert guidance on naturalisation and registration applications.
British citizenship is the ultimate goal for many people who have made the UK their home. It provides the right to live and work in the UK permanently, hold a British passport, and pass citizenship to future generations. At Kings Court Law, we assist clients with all routes to British citizenship, including naturalisation, registration, and citizenship by descent.
Routes to British Citizenship
Naturalisation
For adults who have lived in the UK for 5 years (3 years if married to a British citizen) and hold ILR or settled status.
Registration
For children born in the UK, children of British citizens, and those with a historical connection to British citizenship.
Citizenship by Descent
For those born outside the UK to a British parent. Complex rules apply depending on when and where the parent was born.
Discretionary Registration
For those who do not meet the standard requirements but have strong ties to the UK or exceptional circumstances.
Naturalisation Requirements
- Hold Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) or Settled Status
- Have lived in the UK for at least 5 years (3 years if married to a British citizen)
